- Driver: driving skill test conducted by the selection committee, followed by interview.
- Conductor: written examination, followed by interview.
- Driver-cum-Conductor: written examination and driving skill test, followed by interview.
- A rank list is published and temporary appointments are made from it. The rank list is valid for one year.
