Vacancy Details

Educational Qualification

1. Graduate Engineer – Grade A

Candidates applying for Graduate Engineer positions must possess a full-time regular B.E./B.Tech./equivalent engineering degree from an institution, college, university or deemed university recognized by AICTE/UGC.

Eligible engineering disciplines include:

For General, EWS and OBC(NCL) candidates, the minimum prescribed percentage is 65%.

2. Officer (Marketing) – Grade A

Candidates must possess a two-year full-time regular qualification from an institution, college, university or deemed university recognized by AICTE/UGC.

The prescribed qualification is:

MBA or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Administration equivalent to MBA as per AIU, with specialization in Marketing Management.

General, EWS and OBC(NCL) candidates require at least 60% marks.

SC, ST and PwBD candidates require at least 55% marks.

The Marketing specialization should be reflected in the final degree certificate or established through an appropriate certificate.

3. Officer (Law) – Grade A

Candidates must have either:

• A graduate degree in any discipline along with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB), or
• A five-year integrated LLB degree.

For General, EWS and OBC(NCL) candidates, the prescribed minimum is 60%.

For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, the prescribed minimum is 55%.

The LLB qualification must be recognized by the Bar Council of India.

Candidates applying for the Law Officer post must also satisfy the prescribed post-qualification experience requirements.

4. Assistant Quality Control Officer – Grade A0

Candidates must possess a full-time regular Master’s degree in Chemistry or an eligible Chemistry specialization from a recognized institution, college, university or deemed university.

Eligible areas include:

General, EWS and OBC(NCL) candidates require at least 60% marks.

The notification specifically excludes qualifications such as Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Toxicology, Geochemistry, Pharmacology and Food Technology where applicable.

5. Diploma Engineer – Grade E0

Candidates must possess a full-time three-year Diploma in Engineering from a recognized institution, university or State Board, depending upon the discipline.

The recruitment includes Electrical and Mechanical diploma disciplines and a Safety discipline subject to the additional Industrial Safety qualification specified in the notification.

For General, EWS and OBC(NCL) candidates, the minimum prescribed percentage is 65%.

For SC, ST and PwBD candidates, the prescribed minimum is generally 55%, subject to post-specific conditions.

For the Safety discipline, candidates must additionally possess a Diploma in Industrial Safety of not less than one year issued by a recognized university, institute or competent technical education authority.

The notification states that PwBD candidates are not eligible for the Safety post because of the hazardous nature of the industry and critical safety-related activities involved.

Important Educational Qualification Conditions

• Prescribed qualifications must generally be full-time and regular.
• Qualifications obtained through part-time, correspondence, distance or online learning modes are not eligible where the notification requires a regular qualification.
• Candidates must be able to produce the final degree or marksheet by 30 September 2026.
• Integrated or dual-degree engineering programmes must satisfy the percentage calculation rules specified in the notification.
• Certain combined or interdisciplinary engineering disciplines are not eligible where specifically excluded.
• Foreign or other qualifications requiring equivalence must meet the prescribed equivalence requirements.
• CGPA or other grading systems must be converted according to the applicable institution or university formula.
• A percentage such as 59.99% will not be rounded up to 60%.
• For Diploma Engineer posts, specified higher professional qualifications such as BE, B.Tech, MBA, CA, CS, CMA, MCA and Ph.D. are not eligible.
• Suppression of information regarding higher professional qualifications may result in cancellation of candidature or termination after recruitment.

Age Limit

Age relaxation is available to eligible reserved categories and other specified categories according to the applicable Government of India rules.

The notification provides separate birth-date criteria for OBC(NCL), SC, ST and PwBD candidates, while Ex-Servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs are governed by applicable Government guidelines.

The Matriculation/Higher Secondary certificate issued by the Board of Secondary Education declaring the date of birth is the accepted document for proof of age.

Work Experience

Law Officer

The Law Officer position requires a minimum of 2 years of cumulative post-qualification professional experience as on 30 June 2026.

Only experience obtained after declaration of the final Law qualification result is counted.

Eligible experience may include:

• Legal functions in private or public sector organizations

Assistant Quality Control Officer

This post requires a minimum of 2 years of cumulative post-qualification experience in testing, R&D or quality control in petroleum, petrochemical, polymer or fertilizer unit laboratories, and/or qualifying experience in an NABL-accredited laboratory under the specified requirements.

Experience obtained after declaration of the qualifying degree result is counted.

Teaching, academic research and short-term trainee experience are not treated as relevant experience.

Selection Process

The IOCL Executive Recruitment 2026 selection process consists of:

1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
2. Group Discussion (GD)
3. Group Task (GT)
4. Personal Interview (PI)

Eligible candidates are shortlisted for GD, GT and PI based on CBT marks arranged in descending order for the respective domain.

Merely qualifying the CBT does not guarantee shortlisting for the next stage.

Selection Weightage

The composite score minimum is:

• General / EWS / OBC(NCL): 45%
• SC / ST: 40%
• PwBD: 30%

IOCL CBT Exam Pattern

The Computer Based Test consists of 100 objective multiple-choice questions divided into two sections.

The normal CBT duration is 150 minutes.

Each question carries one mark.

A negative marking of 0.25 marks is applicable for every incorrect answer.

The order of sections is fixed: Section A → Section B.

If the examination is conducted in multiple sessions, scores may be normalized to account for differences in difficulty levels.

Physical Fitness and Medical Examination

Final selection and joining are subject to meeting the Corporation’s physical fitness criteria under the applicable Pre-Employment Medical Examination guidelines.

Candidates are advised to review the prescribed physical fitness parameters before applying.

Selected candidates are required to submit the relevant medical reports in the prescribed format at the time of joining, wherever applicable.

Scribe and PwBD Provisions

Eligible PwBD candidates may use a scribe according to the conditions prescribed in the recruitment notification and applicable Government guidelines.

The requirement for a scribe must be indicated in the online application itself.

The scribe must meet the prescribed eligibility conditions and cannot be a candidate for the same examination.

A person acting as a scribe for one candidate cannot act as a scribe for another candidate.

Eligible candidates using a scribe may receive compensatory time of 20 minutes for every hour of the examination or as otherwise advised.

Visually impaired candidates meeting the specified disability criteria may also receive compensatory time and access to magnified examination content.

Job Location

Selected candidates may be posted anywhere in India depending upon the requirements of IndianOil.

Candidates may be placed in any section, plant, unit, department, division, establishment, associate subsidiary, group company or joint venture of the Corporation, including overseas offices, at the discretion of management.

Graduate Engineers may be assigned to functions across Refineries, Marketing, Pipelines and Business Development.

Possible functional areas include Engineering Services, Process, Production, Projects, Power Plant, Maintenance, Inspection, Operations, LPG, Lubricants, Aviation Services, Construction, Gas, Renewable Energy, Petrochemicals and Business Development.

Law Officers may work in litigation, alternative dispute resolution, contractual documentation, legal opinions, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and regulatory matters.

Quality Control officers may work in testing, laboratory operations, quality systems, NABL accreditation, BIS certification and technical support.

Diploma Engineers may be assigned to production, power plant, maintenance, aviation services, operations, LPG, lubricants, construction, pipelines, petrochemicals, gas and renewable energy functions.

Service Bond

Selected candidates are required to execute a service bond to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of three years from the date of joining.

Travel Reimbursement

SC/ST/PwBD candidates attending the CBT are eligible for reimbursement of 3rd AC rail fare or actual fare, whichever is lower, subject to the conditions mentioned in the notification.

Eligible candidates appearing for GD, GT and PI may receive reimbursement of 2nd AC rail fare or actual fare, whichever is lower, subject to the specified conditions.

Travel claims must be submitted according to the prescribed procedure along with supporting documents.
