Selection Process

1. Written, OMR or online test, if the Commission decides to hold one. Candidates must confirm participation through their profile, and admission tickets can be downloaded in the last 15 days before the test.
2. Physical measurements, followed by the Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Men must qualify in any 5 of 8 events (for example 100 m in 15 seconds, high jump 120 cm, long jump 350 cm, 1500 m in 6 minutes 30 seconds). Women must qualify in any 5 of 7 events (for example 100 m in 18 seconds, high jump 90 cm, 80 skips in one minute).
3. Practical driving test conducted by the Commission.
4. Certificate verification. NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificate holders get 2%, 3% and 5% weightage marks, and Student Police Cadet certificate holders and meritorious sportspersons get extra marks as per the notification.

Selected candidates serve a probation of two years within a continuous three-year period and undergo nine months of pre-service training. A security bond has to be signed.
