Selection Process
- Shortlisting of candidates on the basis of information given in the online application. If applications are large in number, UPSC may use shortlisting criteria such as desirable qualifications, higher qualifications or higher experience.
- Recruitment Test (RT), if held by the Commission.
- Interview – minimum level of suitability: UR-50, OBC-45, SC/ST/PH-40 marks out of 100.
Where selection is by Recruitment Test followed by Interview, candidates must achieve the minimum level of suitability in both stages.

- Create your account and complete the Universal Registration to get your Universal Registration Number (URN). Aadhaar Card is strongly advised as the ID document.
- Fill the Common Application Form (CAF). Upload your photograph, capture a live photograph, and upload your signature (signed three times one below the other in black ink on plain white paper).
- Fill the post/vacancy specific module for the post you are applying for.
- Upload supporting documents in PDF for all claims – date of birth (10th certificate/marksheet), educational qualifications, experience certificates (preferably in the prescribed format), category/caste certificate, OBC non-creamy layer declaration, disability certificate, age relaxation certificates, etc. Do not upload pay slips, resume, appointment letters or relieving letters.
